What Are Counselling And Psychotherapy?

Our mental and emotional health is a big part of how we experience life. People often need support with the issues they’re facing. Whether you need help managing problems you have had throughout your life, or support getting through a difficult time, I can provide you with professional counselling or psychotherapy for a variety of issues.

Addressing issues can alleviate other problems affected by your mental and emotional health. Problems such as feeling depressed, having problems with relationships, suffering from mood swings or missing out on opportunities. Getting the right help can turn your life around and help you to achieve a better quality of life.

I have helped clients overcome many difficulties, including:

Relationship Issues

In relationships it can be easy to get stuck in unhealthy patterns of behaviour but hard to break the habit. Relationship issues often cause great distress for those involved. Couples counselling can help you find the right way forward and hopefully avoid a breakup or divorce. However if separating seems like the best option, therapy can help you do this with as little distress as possible.

Low Self-Esteem

If you find that you constantly have negative feelings about yourself it can significantly affect your confidence and the rest your life. Improving your self-esteem through therapy can improve your mental health and help you to live your life to the full.

Domestic Violence

If you are currently experiencing domestic violence or have experienced it in the past then you may find that it has a lasting and damaging effect on your mental health. Counselling can help you cope with the impact of those experiences and move forward with the rest of your life.

Everyone experiences stress at some point in their life, whether it’s at home, work or in education. However if you suffer from extreme levels of stress you may find that it begins to disrupt your personal, social and professional life and cause other physical and psychological problems. Therapy can help to alleviate the negative impact of stress on your life.

Suffering a traumatic event can be difficult to put behind you. You may experience flashbacks, anxiety, depression and fear, all of which have a significant, negative impact on your life. Treatment can help you to address the issues that are holding you back.

Other issues I can help with include:

  • Anger Management
  • Addiction
  • Alcohol and Drug Misuse
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Phobias
  • Bereavement
  • Work Related Issues
